AI Infrastructure Startups Leads Way, Securing Over $35 Billion in 2024

Year 2024 was highly transformative for artificial intelligence (AI) startups even though there was slowdown in venture capital investments. The segment has evolved satisfactorily as revealed a recent study by WriterBuddy. The study found that the top 50 AI startups raised $52.8 billion collectively by October 2024.

The findings further revealed that the largest portion of the funds raised were into AI infrastructure. The collective share was $35.5 billion. The next big share went to such startups which focused on data and analytics. They together secured $5.9 billion. Defense and security startups followed with collective share of $3.8 billion.

The top grabber was OpenAI with $21.9 billion fund and it was almost half of the total funding among the top 50 startups. The company has innovated continuously throughout 2024 and has proved its dominance position. It introduced GPT Store and this further reflects the commitment of OpenAI to make AI accessible as well as customizable for all.

Startups like Databricks, Anthropic and Scale AI are also shaping the future of AI. Anthropic stands out for its focus on safety and transparency. It basically shows the way ethical considerations can be a business advantage in the AI space.

Even more intriguing are companies like Anduril Industries and Midjourney. Anduril is redefining defense manufacturing with its autonomous systems while Midjourney has become a leader in generative art.

Sheer variety of industries that AI touches today is the stand out feature. Productivity tools like Notion, advanced search engines like Perplexity and more such companies are worth mentioning in this regard.
