In San Francisco, where lots of AI companies are busy working, Writer, a company, just got $100 million in funding. This big investment, led by Iconiq Growth, makes Writer worth $500 million.
But Writer isn’t standing alone in this venture. A couple of more such companies have garnered support from other notable contributors in the funding round, including WndrCo, Balderton Capital, Insight Partners, and Aspect Ventures.
So, what’s all the buzz about? Writer is not just another AI startup. It is a game-changer in the domain of content creation. Their innovative platform utilizes the power of generative AI, allowing businesses to effortlessly generate written content across various departments, including operations, product development, sales, human resources and marketing.
Over the past two years, Writer has witnessed a tenfold increase in its revenue. Their growing list of satisfied clients boasts big names like Spotify, L’Oréal and Uber.
Co-founder and CEO May Habib emphasizes that the strength of Writer lies not just in its AI models but in ensuring the highest quality output. She explains that any CIO who’s tried to build an internal generative AI application will tell you that the last mile of quality is the hardest, and we help them nail that, at scale, dozens and dozens of times as they build AI applications and assistants that enable their entire organization.
Writer’s funding journey began with a $5 million seed investment in 2020, followed by a $21 million Series A round in 2021.
San Francisco’s AI scene has been buzzing with activity. Just last month, Anthropic, a ChatGPT competitor with its AI assistant Claude, secured $100 million from SK Telecom, building on a previously impressive $450 million Series C round in May.
