Amazon.com is currently processing a standalone application for watching sports content, citing a source with direct knowledge of the plan.
Over the last so many years, sports remains one of the biggest attractions for beings for viewing as US audiences have been increasingly switching from pay TV subscriptions to streaming applications.
The move will likely complement the efforts of Amazon to double the programs of sports through its Prime Video service. Amazon attracts the consumers to its shopping platform.
Currently, Amazon owns the rights to stream games such as National Football League’s Thursday Night Football franchise and Premier League soccer matches in the UK. All this will be set up to better compete with sports streaming leader Walt Disney Co.
Last week, Alphabet unit YouTube also signed a multi-year deal to exclusively stream the NFL’s Sunday Ticket package of games in the US.
At the time of the launch of the sports app, it was not clear whether it would go as per the planning made by the company.
It has been seen that Amazon did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
It is observed by the company that they are reviewing the unprofitable business units and has laid off some staff to cover rising costs and a demand downturn as inflation-wary consumers and businesses spend less of the amount.
Amazon made the launch Prime Gaming for PC a few days back in India. By this, the users have access to various free PC games every month. Prime Gaming is a subscription-based gaming service which can be availed along the Amazon Prime plan. In December 2022, Prime Gaming helped facilitate access to eight gaming titles.
To avail of the Prime Gaming service in India, users can head to the Prime Gaming website by signing in with their credentials and clicking on the Activate Prime Gaming button available at the top right corner of the screen.
