The era to a neoteric modern tech society, entering into the digital world, is now to invent smart cars. This invention and order is ready to be built by the major Indian automotive manufacturing company, Tata Motors with a hand of BSNL towards development and change. Headquartered in Mumbai, Tata Motors, is the meant for the production of cars, trucks, vans, coaches, buses, sports cars or military vehicles. Tata Motors built a path in the market, being the first Indian manufacturer to achieve the capability of developing a competitive indigenous automobile. With this Tata is now ready to build new segment of technology, the smart cars.
On the hand to develop the smart cars, the initiates are also taken by a telecom services and network management provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd,(BSNL). BSNL is India’s oldest communication service provider, has its initiated facilities and enhanced ideology to set the broad area of communication network. Hence, this company involves the usage of sim settings, data usage, broadband network and other major value-added services.
BSNL with Tata motors, is a step to deal with the enhancement of the technology through Machine-to-Machine(M2M) communication. This wraps up in the supply of embedded Sim cards to transform the automaker’s vehicles into smart cars. These smart cars have access to internet and can provide sufficient internet connectivity for services such as, safety emergency responses, help for real-time traffic issues or the involvement of an improved navigation system.
According to an initial report, 5 Lakh Sim cards have already been supplied for required processes, as reported by BSNL’s Chairman Anupam Srivastava and also, 10 Lakh would be furnished further this year. Tata Motors, fostering a new modernised age, is ready to bring down the wheels of Tiago, Hexa and a newly unidentified SUV harrier as the generations smart cars. Srivastava also guessed at the facilitation of M2M communications could also bring telcos at least INR 20 per Sim on a monthly duration, which could possibly be translated into a more better revenue opportunity a year, estimating it to be INR 1,200 Crore.
Not only to build better generated smart cars, M2M SIM now is also used for controlling various IoT devices like child-tracking devices, surveillance cameras, sensors, monitors, smart electric-metres, household appliances and such others. Presently, autonomous cars are the primitive precedent, all of M2M communication technology. While, US electric carmaker Tesla Motors Inc and Germany’s Dailmer AG have already manufactured such cars, it comes ahead of the next generation technologies and its necessity.
For the matter of fact, the best-known telecommunications company, Vodafone, has also ensured a V-SIM initiative, that draws attention to implement its IoT SIM in 32 countries. This IoT SIM was developed to provide an onboard diagnostics(OBD) based dongle that facilitates the user to plug and visit automatic emergency features such as real-time tracking, etc in the car.
