BT, a big company that helps with phones and internet in the UK, has started something new called NB-IoT. NB-IoT makes cities and industries smarter and better.


So, what exactly is NB-IoT? It is a special network that links devices and sensors using very little power. This means that devices can stay connected for a long time without needing to be charged often.

BT’s NB-IoT network covers almost all of the people in the UK, about 97% of them. They use the mobile network infrastructure from EE to make sure that everyone can use it.

Now, you might wonder, what is the big deal? Well, this new network opens up lots of cool possibilities. Picture this: streetlights that automatically adjust their brightness depending on the time of day, or sensors that can find leaks in water pipes underground before they become a big problem. These are just a couple of ways NB-IoT can make our lives easier.

Chris Keone, MD, Division X at BT, believes their new technology will help businesses all over the UK. NB-IoT can make cities smarter and reduce pollution, among other things.

This is all part of BT’s plan to make sure everyone has good internet and phone connections. They offer different options like eSIMs and IoT national roaming SIMs to meet the needs of different people and businesses.
