US-based technology company Cisco Systems has signed an agreement with BSNL under the aegis of Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The partnership will help Cisco to demonstrate 5G technology-based use cases to solve problems faced by users in areas like education, healthcare, and agriculture, using technologies like IoT and AI, according to a company statement.

Cisco will also be stepping up its investments in India as part of the second phase of its Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) programme in India, to focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

“India is an important market for us. While we are not revealing and unveiling the amount we would be investing, it is clear that we are betting on India as a key market. We are adding some of the four more states to our existing initiatives and understanding towards some of the more core areas like innovation, smart cities,” PTI quotedCisco CEO Chuck Robbins as saying.

Cisco had also signed a pact with Niti Aayog, the think tank of the government of India. As a collaboration with the Niti Ayog Cisco will boost connectivity and collaboration across all 100 Atal Incubation Centres, by equipping them with its conferencing platforms.
