Dairy Startup Akshayakalpa Organic Aims for Rs 400 Crore Milestone

Akshayakalpa Organic is a pioneering dairy startup having prominent presence in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. It is targeting a milestone of Rs 400 crore in revenue for the financial year 2024-25. It generated Rs 286 crore in revenue last year with its organic farming model that is gaining momentum.

Akshayakalpa Organic was founded by Shashi Kumar in 2010. He is a former tech professional and has spent 17 years in the tech sector before stepping into his farming roots.

His vision is to create a sustainable business model that integrates dairy farming with soil health initiatives. He wants to ensure a steady income for farmers while promoting environmental sustainability.

His operations is currently spread across three clusters in Tiptur (Karnataka), Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu) and Gadwal (Telangana), Akshayakalpa works closely with local farming communities. It collects 1.2 lakh liters of milk per day from 1,200 farmers and manages 16,000 animals. It markets the organic milk and value-added dairy products such as paneer, cheese and ghee across Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The startup has grown steadily over the years. It has achieved a 60% growth rate in the last five years. Akshayakalpa raised Rs 250 crore in funding in December 2023 from A91 Partners. It is now eyeing the Pune market and hopes to tap into the growing demand for organic products.

Akshayakalpa is scaling gradually and remains focused on its mission to create sustainable livelihoods for small-scale farmers and simultaneously offering premium organic dairy products to consumers.
