Delhi Government Launches Senior Business Blasters to Empower Student Startups

Delhi government has lately launched Business Blasters programme for universities and ITIs to strengthen entrepreneurship among young students. The idea is to create job-ready graduates and also to nurture job creators to drive economic growth.

Chief Minister Atishi spoke about the transformative vision behind the initiative at the launching event. She said that Ambedkar University, Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology-Delhi and other such institutions are known for their strong placement records, but the new programme is to give students the resources and motivation to think beyond conventional employment and explore the world of start-ups. The programme is equipped with a seed fund of Rs 50,000 for each student team.

The financial commitment of Delhi government reflects the importance of the initiative. Rs 40 crore was earlier allocated to the school-level Business Blasters scheme and offered Rs 2,000 to students of Classes 11 and 12 to experiment with their ideas. An additional of Rs 15 crore has now been earmarked for the senior programme in universities. Success stories from the school programme highlight the potential of such initiatives.
