Bengaluru-based EV startup EMOBI Manufacturing has come up with the AKX Low-Speed Commuter. It is an electric two-wheeler purpose-built for India’s growing last-mile delivery sector. It is a tailored solution designed for gig workers and small businesses needing affordable transportation without compromising functionality. The EV is priced at Rs 90,000 and is strategically positioned to capture a significant slice of the micro-mobility market.
One notable feature of the AKX Commuter is its multipurpose battery pack and it goes beyond just powering the vehicle. EMOBI has designed the battery to serve as a backup energy source for homes which are looking for reliable power and particularly in areas plagued by frequent outages.
EMOBI has partnered with Livaah Innovations to make the battery compatible with solar hybrid inverters. It gives customers the flexibility to switch between EV usage and home backup. The innovation taps directly into India’s evolving energy space where sustainable energy solutions are more essential than ever.
The AKX Commuter also demonstrates the commitment to choice and efficiency by offering lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. The LFP variant provides a range of 75 km and the NMC offers up to 120 km. Both supports fast-charging and achieves full power in just 30 minutes.
EMOBI founder and CEO Bharath Rao said that they are offering a reliable transportation solution that also empowers users with home power backup capabilities. The EV is simultaneously equipped with some rich features like geo-fencing, live tracking and vehicle immobilisation.
The AKX Commuter is currently focused on B2B applications and EMOBI has set its sights on expanding into personal as well as passenger vehicles. It provides a solution that seems to genuinely understand the needs of its target users.
