However, everything is not good with the AIs. Abreast to the excitements lies worries and it is titled as the dark side of AI. Some fear the tools may produce biased or else inaccurate responses. Many fear the replies may even violate copyright laws. Shockingly, the tools are simultaneously being misused to create intimate images without the consent of the people or victims.

Deepfake has been breaking news in recent months. It gained attention when AI-generated explicit images of Taylor Swift surfaced online. The images highlighted potential harm of mainstream AI technology.

The concern was addressed by US President Joe Biden in his 2024 State of the Union speech. He urged the Congress to regulate such tools and even ban AI voice impersonation. He voiced it is the need to harness benefits of the tools while protecting against its dangers.

However, keeping the warnings aside, tech giants are pushing ahead with new features in their respective AI tools. OpenAI lately introduced Sora, which is able to create realistic videos from just text prompts. Microsoft integrated AI assistant Copilot into some of its products. Similarly, Google introduced AI chatbot Gemini.

Experts are worried with these developments. The widespread adoption of AI without proper regulation is a matter of concern. Researchers and legal experts in a great number signed a letter that called for policy changes. They advocated independent evaluations of AI for safety as well as accountability.
