Facebook took the initiative and always continues to fight against the fake news stops that are provided by any website. This aim of Facebook was totally determined this week when a comment by an executive that was making a clear cut statement that the company is not going to have any concern about this serious problem.
In an interview with a prestigious news channel the Facebook’s Head of News Feed, John Hegeman throws some light on this particular topic of problem. Question show Facebook is going to prove that they are serious about fighting against the fake news stops of various pages whereas they are still giving permission to Alex Jone’s Infowars to maintain a page and publish news on the site.
Infowars is one of the major generator of fake news and no one can ever deny to this. Instead of totally banning such pages he said that these pages doesn’t violate the Facebook policies at all. But it seems like fake news are the one that Facebook should stop apologizing for. This is not so big thing to do for company.
Facebook is trying really to protect their good image and reputation in the case of fake news since 2016 election. This went far while they were creating their own videos so that they can gain the trust of people. But all this is look like people are searching a single happy medium, if you are choosing between ‘nothing’ and ‘the nuclear option’.
After the Hegeman’s statement on the issue, company came for forward and posted their of clarification on their Twitter account. The company tweeted many times in a series, they clarifies that could not outright the ban pages for promoting fake news but instead they should ‘demote’ them.
It continues as they said, “While using Facebook we usually see different kinds of pages about specific topic popping out, they contain opinion or analysis but they are considered as fake news.” At very first sight people get attracted because they have interesting headlines just like headline of breaking news to attract lot of people at same time.
Facebook is in very critical situation as they walking between thin lines. In case if they dies outright pages which are ban like Infowars, they will be risking their thousands of follwers, who can search out others pages which are similar to Infowars. And if they don’t and people who are not in favour of fake news providers like Infowars will eventually lose their trust
