Former Unacademy COO Vivek Sinha Secures $11M for New Startup

Former Unacademy COO Vivek Sinha is working on a different project. It is now on a new journey by launching startup Beyond Odds Technologies. He has received impressive initial investment of $11 million for the venture. The funding was led by Matrix Partners India and Lightspeed.

InnoVen Capital, a subsidiary of Temasek, Alteria Capital and a host of renowned angel investors too were among the investors. Industry stalwarts like Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, Gaurav Munjal of Unacademy, Mayank Kumar of Upgrad, and others such as Ramakant Sharma of Livspace, Abhishek Goyal of Tracxn, and Rohit MA of CloudNine Hospitals joined the funding round.

The startup is based in Bengaluru and aims to cater to the needs of the grey-collar workforce segment. It is equipped with employability-led training, certification and recruitment services. In fact, it acts as a bridge between employers and talent. It facilitates seamless connections in the job market.

Beyond Odds Technologies has introduced Emversity for higher education brand and its first center was inaugurated in Bengaluru on April 20. It is learned more six centers are coming up in cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Nagpur, Kochi and Ranchi. The company will be offering a range of bachelor’s degree programs and certification courses in collaboration with universities through the centers.

The company’s debut cohort is learned to be focusing on addressing skill gaps in healthcare and through strategic tie-ups with prominent institutions including Fortis Hospitals and Core Diagnostics for job placements as well as internships.

Vivek Sinha left Unacademy in August 2023 and the phase marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career. Prior to his role at Unacademy, he was a business head at Oyo. His exit was part of a series of notable departures from Unacademy.
