Google Beta is currently testing an enhanced version of the Pixel Call Screen. This testing is making the introduction to a conversational AI to help users to have annoying robocalls.
One must be familiar with Call Screen characteristics, which facilitates Pixel phone owners a direct way to vet phone calls from unknown sources. With the help of this feature, users can automatically decline the calls reflected as spam. With the effect of this feature, beta is adding a “series” of natural-sounding voice prompts to determine who is calling. The objective behind the feature is to reduce the amount of robocalls Pixel got by the users.
Surprisingly, the beta made the release previous to this time. But due to certain reasons, the company remained silent about this. The development of the feature was still under the stage of development, so it may not work as well as intended. And the feature is still in its early stages.
Right after getting the feedback, Google stated that the company has plans to incorporate those changes for the final version whenever released. The launch date for the AI-powered Call Screen is not disclosed yet.
In addition to the AI voices, Google is simplifying the Call Screen user interface. A new window will appear after selecting Protection Level in the Settings menu. This window will offer more granular control over how to filter calls. The basic level is also available for instant, declining the numbers known to be spam. Along with this, two other levels are also available, adding their scrutiny level on top of stopping spam numbers. Medium limits “suspicious calls,” while Maximum outright blocks all unknown numbers.
Google has a list of instructions on its Help website that determines how to install the AI-boosted feature. The latest version must be downloaded at the first step, then tap the Call Screen section in the Settings menu. It appears the voices will be automatically included in the screening process.
