As per the recent news of Google, Google has launched a suite of upcoming generative AI features for its various Workspace apps. The applications are inclusive of Google Docs, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides.
The features contain various features to generate, summarize, and brainstorm text with AI in Google Docs. This feature contains options to generate full emails in Gmail based on users’ brief bullet points, and the ability to produce AI imagery, audio, and video so that the users can illustrate presentations in Slides.
The introduction of Google has an eagerness to catch up to competitors in the new AI race. After the arrival of ChatGPT and Microsoft’s launch of its chatbot-enabled Bing, the search giant- Google has been scrambling to launch some similar AI-featured tools. With no delays, the company declared a “code red” in December, with senior management communicating to the staff to include AI tools in all its user products, which are used by billions of people.
And as per the reports and analytics, Google is definitely racing ahead of itself. Although the company has also revealed a raft of new features and AI writing tools in Docs and Gmail. Both of these tools will be made available to a group of US-based “trusted testers” this March. Google also mentioned that these and other features will then be made available to the public later in the year but the company have not yet revealed the date of the same.
Here below, we have prepared a complete list of AI-powered features which will be launched by Google into the Workspace apps in the future:
Draft, reply, summarize, and prioritize the Gmail.
Brainstorm, proofread, write, and rewrite in Docs.
Bring your creative vision to life with the help of auto-generated images, audio, and video in Slides.
Analyze via auto-completion, formula generation, and contextual categorization in Sheets.
Enable workflows.
These are some of the inherited features, the AI writing and brainstorming tools in Docs and Gmail contains.
Google makes the expansion on these potential functions in its press release. No matter whether you’re a busy HR professional who needs to create customized job descriptions, or a parent drafting the invitation for your child’s pirate-themed birthday party, Workspace saves you the time and effort to write the first version. All you need to do is just simply type a topic you’d like to write about, and a draft will instantly be generated for you. With your collaborative Al partner, you can continue to refine and edit, getting more suggestions as per the requisites.
An availability of similar kind of feature will let users rewrite the text or expand it using AI tools. Google Docs is capable enough to expand this into a “more polished summary,” with users able to manually specify the tone. In a video demonstration, Google highlights AI being used to write personalized marketing messages for clients, turning bullet points into a full email, and summarizing the contents of a long email chain in Gmail.
