Two Guwahati-based startups are on the verge of revolutionizing the making of pithas, a beloved delicacy in Assam. They are developing machines to completely automate pitha-making process. The innovation is still in the developing phase. Pithas will gain great popularity in India and even overseas after the machine is successful launched.
Entrepreneurial consultant Satyen Madhav Mahanta highlighted the opportunities in the traditional food industry. He also pointed out that innovations in packaging and standardized ingredient protocols could further enhance the market. He talked alongside the pitha-making machine during a two-day startup skilling program.
The program was organized by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It concluded with insightful discussions about the future of innovation and entrepreneurship in Northeast India.
Guwahati NIELIT Executive Director Dr. Y Jayanta Singh emphasized growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and potential impact of a new electronic semiconductor plant in the region. He states that such advancements could transform the local economy and simultaneously also create several opportunities for startups.
The Startup Catalyst Program was held at the ‘Assam Startup – The Nest’ and it aims to strengthen the startup ecosystem in the Northeast. Industry experts and government officials attended the event and discussed about the future of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
NIELIT Chief Innovation Officer Anubhav Tiwari provided an overview of the vast potential for startups in the Northeast regions. He said that need for a supportive environment is required for new ventures.
Satyanarayana Reddy M from the Keystone Centre for Innovation and Teacher Education led a session on the effectiveness of prompt engineering in startup innovations. Ankur Mehta from Plaksha University offered insights into the intricacies of pitching a business for startup success.
