As a marketer, you’ll have heard of the importance that email has. Everybody will tell you to start building an email list and marketing out to them, whether you’re trying to sell a product, an experience, or just trying to spread awareness of your brand and connect with your customers.
However, we’ve come a long way over the last few years, and now things like influencer marketing and social media all exist, so has email has its day, and now it’s time to move on? Well, why email marketing may seem like a dated form of communication, statistics state otherwise, and this is what we’re going to be focusing on today.
Where Email Marketing is Now
To kick things off, let’s take a look at the current position of email marketing, according to the facts. According to Optinmonster, one of the largest email marketing service providers around today, there are a few straight facts you should know.
Firstly, around 92% of all adults use email as a form of communication, with around 61% of these adults using an email service every single day. That’s a ton of eyes of their email, and potentially looking at what you have to say. In the US alone, there are over 244 million users, and this number is growing every single year.
What’s more, and shockingly really, over 105 BILLION emails are sent every single day around the world, and Optinmonster estimates that this number is going to grow to over 246 billion throughout 2020 and into 2021. This is all the evidence needed to show that email marketing is not a dying form of marketing, but in fact, it’s growing faster than ever before.
Now, while we said that 61% of people are writing and interacting with emails, this is a far cry from the 99% of email users who check their accounts every single day.
Some people will even check their email over 20 times a day! That’s huge. With 58% of people also checking their email as the first thing they do in the day, even over checking the news or social media, do you need any more stats that email marketing is still a big business, asks bullpreneur.
