GetApp, the leading marketplace for business app discovery, uncovered shocking statistics from a survey of 500 small and midsize business leaders in the US. The study revealed that while healthcare may have the best results when it comes to data usage, 25% say they are also the least confident finding relevant insights in the data.

Lauren Maffeo, Senior Content Analyst at GetApp commented on the research:

“Our research shows that, while the healthcare industry is generally wasting less data than others, there are clearly problems to be addressed when it comes to making decisions based on this data”.

GetApp have therefore put the findings together, highlighting the gap between the tools medical professions currently leverage and features they need to incorporate into analytics. It showcases the increasing need for more real-time data in Healthcare. This summarised data will hopefully help guide the healthcare industry and help them improve their data analytics.

The healthcare industry is leading the way in data utilization, with a quarter of businesses wasting less than 10% of their data.

Recent research conducted by GetApp, leading business app discovery marketplace, questioned almost 500 small and midsize business leaders in the U.S about their analytics use. The research revealed that, while healthcare may have the best results when it comes to data usage, they are the least confident in finding relevant insights within the data.

Healthcare professionals feel the toughest part of data analysis is gathering relevant data, with 25% of respondents saying they are least confident with that part of the analytics process. Struggling to find important insights in data can create difficulties when making data-driven decisions. Additionally, 42% said they want more customer satisfaction scores before using data to make decisions.

GetApp has used this research to highlight the gap between the tools medical professionals currently leverage and the features they really need. It also identifies the increasing need for more real-time data in Healthcare. This will offer guidance to those in the healthcare industry and help them improve their data analytics use.

Lauren Maffeo, Senior Content Analyst at GetApp, commented on the research, “Our research shows that, while the healthcare industry is generally wasting less data than others, there are clearly problems to be addressed when it comes to making decisions based on this data.

“More real-time data and customer satisfaction scores would provide a step in the right direction. Our research comes with some suggestions on how to improve the use of data. Ensuring that you implement the right EHR, including those with real-time analytics, is the first step along this road.”
