Bengaluru-based self-drive bike and car rental startup Drivezy has partnered with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), to offer 3,000 scooters on Drivezy’s platform across Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The partnership will boost the startup’s plans to grow in the innovative shared mobility space, providing more options to its users.

Talking about the partnership, Ashwarya Singh, CEO and Co-Founder, Drivezy said, “The sharing economy in recent years has attracted significant attention due to its potential to generate new markets and employment by making use of idle assets. The future of world belongs to shared, connected and zero waste mobility and we look forward to working closely with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. towards this mission.”

Drivezy was founded by Vasant Verma, Abhishek Mahajan, Amit Sahu, and Ashwarya Singh in 2015, was formerly known as JustRide. The startup operates on a P2P model, allowing vehicle owners to lease their vehicles, which are in turn rented out to the users on its platform. It is currently operational in seven cities across India including Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Mangalore, Mysore, Manipal.

The startup claims to have more than 7,500 vehicles on its platform including cars, bikes and scooters. The recent partnership is in sync with its plans to enlist more than 10,000 vehicles on its platform by the end of 2018.

Drivezy has raised a total of $16 million from marquee global investors including Japanese investment fund Das Capital, Redcliffe Capital, Kima Ventures, CrowdWorks, and Susa Ventures. Earlier this year in February, Drivezy raised $5 million in funding through Initial Coin Offering (ICO).

This car and bike rental startup is among the few startups supported by the prominent US-based seed accelerator Y Combinator. Other players competing with Drivezy in the self-drive rental space include Zoomcar, MyChoize, Bounce, WheelStreet, Vogo, among many others.
