Altigreen Propulsion Labs is paving a different path compared to other electric vehicle (EV) startups. It is not relying heavily on government incentives for sustainability. It is ensuring its electric three-wheelers remain viable without such incentives. Its strategy is mainly focused on innovation and resilience.
The startup is based in Bengaluru and has very well recognized the obstacles faced on city roads such as poor road conditions, high dust levels and frequent waterlogging. It has tailored the technology to withstand the harsh conditions and uses 93% of the components produced in India. It has designed strong vehicles that are efficient as well as reliable for the Indian market.
Altigreen is committed to local innovation and builds motors, battery packs and some other key components in-house. The approach has allowed it to create EVs specifically suited to India’s demanding driving conditions.
Founder Dr. Amitabh Saran aims to create cleaner and more efficient vehicles. He steered the company toward developing EVs that significantly reduce emissions. Altigreen’s three-wheelers offer substantial savings on operational costs, making them an attractive option for auto-rickshaw drivers and last-mile delivery services.
The mission of Altigreen is clear and it is simply to convert 100% of three-wheelers in India to electric by 2030. With 5,000 electric vehicles already on the road, logging over 50 million kilometers and preventing CO2 emissions equivalent to 40 carbon parks, the company is making significant strides toward this goal.
The Indian EV sector is evolving at a rapid pace and Altigreen has continued to innovate with its demonstration of right strategy. It has aimed to overcome challenges and lead the country toward a greener future.
