The journey of India toward becoming a global leader in space and robotics just gained significant momentum. The reason is new partnership of India Accelerator (IA) and the Trade Promotion Council for Geospatial and Space Industry (TPCGSI). The partnership reveals growing importance of startups in shaping the future of robotics, unmanned systems as well as space technology in India.
The robotics and unmanned systems industries have been developing at an accelerated pace globally. The IA and TPCGSI partnership is opening doors for startups to drive innovation in sectors which have lacked sufficient infrastructure. The partnership is to mainly focus in offering strategic opportunities to emerging companies.
India Accelerator’s Robotics, Unmanned and Space Startups (RUMS) division stands to gain immensely from the partnership. IA’s continued focus on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and defence solutions highlights growing strategic importance of the technologies. Ashish Bhatia, Founder and CEO of India Accelerator, said that the role of IA as a “UAV Industry Facilitator” is central to strengthening India’s national defence capabilities.
The investments of IA in companies like Zulu and Indrajaal showcase tangible impacts of such collaborations.
Lt Gen Anil Chait, Arindam Mukhopadhyay and other industry veterans said that IA is primed to further solidify its position as a leader in the Indian UAV ecosystem. The participation in initiatives like Drone Shaurya 2024 in Pune reflects broader effort to make India a hub for innovation in robotics and space tech.
The partnership seems to be a game-changer for both IA and TPCGSI. It is also a step towards India’s potential of becoming a key player in the robotics and space innovation.
