India’s Drone Future Gets a Boost with Thales and Garuda Aerospace Collaboration

Drone industry is getting a boast in India, Thales and Garuda Aerospace lately has signed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the drone ecosystem. The partnership is effective from August 2024. It is also learned that they will be jointly driving innovation and securing advancements in the drone technology.

Thales is a global leader in the aerospace and UAV solutions. It is a well-known name for its advanced Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) systems. It specializes in seamless UAV flight management, high-performance radar and sensors for effective UAV detection.

Garuda Aerospace was established in 2015 and is a key player in India’s drone sector. Its more than 2500 drones and 4000 pilots are operating across 400 districts. It has positioned itself with a significant presence in the market. It mainly focuses on advanced drone solutions and particularly for defense as well as agricultural applications. It aligns perfectly with Thales partnership.

The collaboration aims to transform Indian drone landscape. UTM technology of Thales will be integrated with that of Garuda’s extensive market experience as well as fleet capabilities. Their partnership is strategic and simultaneously set to revolutionize how drones are used.

Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director of Thales in India, highlighted the synergy between partnership and efforts of government in building a robust drone ecosystem. He emphasized that the collaboration supports the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) vision of Indian government and also helps India in achieving its ambition to lead globally in the drone sector.
