Instagram has seen its popularity rise in huge numbers in last couple of years. Seeing the increasing interest of Millennials in the photo-sharing site, Facebook, the social networking giant, ended up buying the app for a whopping $1 Billion in the year 2012. Since then, Facebook has been trying to revamp the app for better usability and drive in more engagement. The last few months have seen Instagram changing its logo to a colourful, modern logo and introducing the Instagram stories feature, a move considered to take on the growing popularity of Snapchat. And now, Instagram is finally giving its users a feature that they have been wanting since the app’s inception in the year 2010.

Announcing on Twitter, Instagram’s official account tweeted, “Today we’re bringing ZOOM to Instagram on iOS! Pinch to zoom on photos & videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore.”

As it is quite clear from the tweet, the Zoom feature will be currently only be made available to users using the Instagram App on iPhones and iPads. Further, the feature isn’t just limited to photos, one will also be able to zoom in on video, content in one’s feed, profiles and in Explore.

While the Zoom feature request has been answered by Instagram, we are sure that the next thing its users want is the luxury to rotate their phone for landscape images. Further, with the addition of the zoom in feature, Instagram should now consider upgrading its maximum resolution of 1080 pixels wide.

As always, Android users will have to wait for a few weeks to try their hands on the zoom feature on Instagram. There hasn’t been any information on when can one expect the upgrade to hit Windows phones and other devices.

iOS Instagram users, what are you waiting for? Update your app right away and let the zooming in begin!
