Rajasthan has set the foot to make a name for itself in the world of startups. Entrepreneurial spirits have been steadily growing in the state that is often associated with historical grandeur. A rise of 35% has been witnessed in the number of new startups in 2023.
The Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 is scheduled to be held from December 9 to December 11 in the capital city Jaipur. The event is organized by Rajasthan’s flagship startup initiative titled iStart. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the event and it is set to be a grand affair. It is aiming to position Rajasthan as a $350 billion economy within a period of next five years.
The summit stands out for its inclusive vision equipped with discussions on digital transformation, fireside chats with industry stalwarts like Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm and Ritesh Agarwal of OYO.
The event also takes a unique approach by engaging with the Rajasthani diaspora through the Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave.
iStart has been supporting startups since 2017 and deserves credit for laying a strong foundation. It is one of largest startup programs in India having more than 5,100 startups. Its area of work includes order policy as this will provide the startups with opportunities without the cumbersome tendering process, is a refreshing change.
However, the real success of Rising Rajasthan depends on how well these ambitious goals translate into action. It is important to note that hosting a summit is easy, but creating long-term impact requires consistent follow-up as well as some supportive policies.
The effort of Rajasthan to combine its rich heritage with a modern entrepreneurial vision is truly inspiring.
