The entrepreneurial journey is no easy feat. Building a successful startup needs more than an idea. A mix of skills, guidance and opportunities are the ingredients of success. The University of Kashmir (KU) has recognizing it and lately hosted a two-day Startup Bootcamp.
The event was organized by the NewGen IEDC Incubation Centre in collaboration with MeitY Startup Hub (New Delhi) and Alsisar Impact (Mumbai). The Bootcamp mainly focused on essential aspects of building a startup.
The vision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofar Khan for the event is worth applauding. It is being said that universities are becoming hubs for innovation and initiatives apart from being centers for education.
The workshops were led by industry experts Anuj Sharma and Love Sarin from Alsisar Impact. Participants refined their ideas in the sessions and received hands-on guidance. They learned the approach of presenting vision to investors.
One notable highlight of the event was the pitch competition. Watching young entrepreneurs presenting ideas and receiving feedback of experts were inspiring. It was a moment that revealed right guidance can turn ideas into potential game-changers.
Local startup founders such as Abid Rashid of Fastbeetle and Faheem Bhat of Lieper Books shared their success stories. They are proven examples that challenges are inevitable and innovation can pave the path to success.
The Bootcamp is not just about creating businesses, but it is also about creating a mindset. Similar initiatives are required in the region to build up a sound startup ecosystem.
Universities in the region should organize such bootcamps to prioritize innovation and entrepreneurship. The future of startups in India looks incredibly promising if more institutions follow KU’s example.
