A social platform post of Bengaluru tech enthusiast Keshav Chauhan sparked a debate. His post talked about two types of people are mainly required by startups. His post was shared on X and it captured a simple idea that startups need a mix of those who are deeply connected to the digital pulse and those who remain grounded in offline principles.
Chauhan describes the first type as “terminally online” and it means the kind of person who knows about a company’s latest move even before it is officially announced. The second type is someone completely off social media and someone who prefers reading a physical newspaper or getting lost in books. He said that one keeps a startup ahead of the curve and the other ensures its foundation is rooted in timeless principles.
The insight sparked conversations among founders, professionals and enthusiasts. Many found the categorization relatable and especially those who are juggling multiple roles within their startups. One of the users shared his struggle of being personas and one another user acknowledged the difficulty of balancing the extremes.
Not everyone agreed with his perspective as a skeptical voice argued that being excessively online might harm a company. The voice suggested that the real insights often find way to those who stay offline. It highlights a critical point and it is that startups thrive on balance. However, the tools and approaches that work for one may not suit another.
