Are technology and food your two greatest loves? Then, here’s a news that might interest you. KFC (yes, we’re talking about your beloved fast food brand here) has recently launched a limited edition 5-in-1 Meal Box. Now, you may assume what’s so special in a meal box? Well, this one comes with a charging slot. Yes, you read it right.
The 5-in-1 Meal Box has been a star product from KFC which has received a huge thumbs up from the foodies all around the world. Seeing its popularity, the fast food giant decided to launch a limited edition box, ‘Watt a Box,’ that comes with a built-in power bank.
Unfortunately, only a few people will be able to land their hands on these special edition ‘Watt a Box’. According to representatives from the food company, only a few lucky customers at select KFC stores in the cities of Delhi and Mumbai stand an opportunity to have their 5-in-1 Meal served in the special ‘Watt a Box’. In addition to this, people can also take part in an online contest being held by the company on its KFC India’s official Facebook page and win themselves some of the limited edition boxes.
Speaking about what made his company think about such an out-of-the box idea, KFC India’s Lluis Ruiz Ribot said, “We launched the 5-in-1 Meal Box in March this year with the objective of providing an abundant complete meal and at an affordable price for our customers. With the launch of Watt a Box, we have gone a step ahead and also introduced an element of utility into the box. Each one of us spends a considerable time on our smartphones daily, and the phone battery going dead is almost like a nightmare! No longer is that the case, with the Watt a Box around”.
Well, if you’re thinking that this is the first marriage between food and tech, then you’re mistaken. The past has seen various food giving their offerings a quirky-tech touch.
For example, there was a time when popular Pizza Joint, Pizza Hut delivered their pizzas in boxes that could convert into pseudo movie projectors. Considering the fact that Pizza and Movies make a perfect combination for many, it was a clever step made by the Pizza joint. The Pizza boxes had a pop-out hole on the side, and users just needed to slip in a lens into it in order to convert it into a projector.
Being a tech and food junkie myself, I have only one thing to say to these food companies, “Please keep such ideas coming!”
