In the world of state-of-the-art robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), India is taking an impressive path forward, all thanks to the inventive endeavors of Sastra Robotics, a startup that hails from Kochi. With the support of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), this company has notched up export orders for about 160 of its AI-powered robots. The orders are from clients based in the United Kingdom and the United States. These exceptional robots are purpose-built to tackle tasks that are either too complex or hazardous for human involvement.
Sastra Robotics stands alongside the trailblazing robotic startups in Kerala. It follows the footsteps of Genrobotics Innovations, which is renowned for their groundbreaking Bandicoot robot. Conceived by three innovative Malayali entrepreneurs – P Aronin, Achu Wilson and Akhil A – Sastra’s robots are outfitted with cutting-edge arms and precision-controlled fingers that replicate human skillfulness. Their primary mission is to identify defects in advanced equipment employed across sectors such as space exploration, defense and banking.
According to Aronin, who also serves as the CEO of the company, fifteen robots have already been dispatched to the UK. More 135 is scheduled for shipment by the end of this month or early next month. He said that they have also begun shipping robots to the US and one already reaching California as well as a batch of 10 in production. These robots play a crucial role in identifying hardware and software faults in electronic devices featuring touch displays.
Furthermore, these robots have the ability to forecast the root causes of malfunctions through the application of AI. Among Sastra’s distinguished clientele are industry leaders like Bosch, HCL, Qualcomm, Tech Mahindra and ABB. Notably, the startup has garnered acclaim and accolades on both national and global platforms.
The journey began when the three founders discovered their passion for robotics during a tech expo at their institution. Their shared enthusiasm led them to collaborate on innovative creations. Although they secured jobs with different companies after graduation, their shared passion eventually led them to start their own firm.
