Lenovo, the IT hardware company, has joined forces with cloud computing leader VMWare and chip giant Nvidia to introduce advanced artificial intelligence (AI) services tailored for business needs. The collaboration between Lenovo and VMware was announced during VMware Explore 2023, held in Las Vegas from August 21-24, 2023.
This partnership heralds the launch of their inaugural turnkey solutions originating from their joint Edge and Cloud Innovation Labs. These solutions are specifically designed to equip mid-size enterprises with hybrid multi-cloud capabilities, streamlining and expediting the digital transformation journey.
In an official statement, Lenovo also introduced its blueprint for Generative AI, developed in conjunction with VMware. This innovative solution, named Lenovo ThinkSystem, is fortified with Nvidia-accelerated computing technology and cutting-edge software. Its primary purpose is to facilitate businesses in deploying and leveraging potent generative AI tools and foundational models, thereby fostering efficient adoption and commercialization of these transformative AI resources.
“VMware and Lenovo are partnering to help clients of all sizes become digital companies by investing in the infrastructure required to power a new generation of modern applications, such as Generative AI,” said Krish Prasad, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cloud Infrastructure Business Group, VMware.
Furthermore, it appears that Lenovo is expanding its collaboration with VMware to empower customers in extracting the full potential of their data. This initiative involves the implementation of NVIDIA AI solutions, aimed at revolutionizing business outcomes. This transformation is facilitated through the utilization of Nvidia AI Enterprise, a high-caliber software that drives the Nvidia AI platform. Within Nvidia AI Enterprise, the inclusion of NVIDIA NeMo software plays a pivotal role in expediting the creation and utilization of production-ready large language models (LLMs).
“This expanded collaboration with VMware is a transformative step in enabling more businesses to seamlessly leverage modern edge, AI, and hybrid cloud capabilities,” said Sumir Bhatia, President – AP, Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, said in a statement.
Lenovo said, it will also work with VMWare to launch a new private cloud venture that they say will “enable IT admins and developers to more easily build, run, manage, and secure traditional and next-gen applications across multiple private data centers and cloud providers”.
