MATH (Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Technology Hub) is an initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and T-Hub in India. It lately announced winners of its flagship Hackathon and Startup Pitch competitions during the Global AI Summit of the Telangana Government. The prestigious event drew more than 2,500 delegates and included global AI experts, startup founders as well as several industry leaders.
Some of the prominent attendees included Sridhar Babu (Telangana’s IT Minister), Rama Devi Lanka (Director of Emerging Technologies Wing), Jayesh Ranjan (Principal Secretary of IT for the Government of Telangana) and Mahankali Srinivas Rao (CEO of T-Hub). The event culminated with the recognition of the top three hackathon teams. The rewarded three were Flatmates, Salubrity Health and SoulSupport. They received cash prizes of ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh and ₹2 lakh respectively.
The hackathon attracted more than 12,000 registrations from 3,000 teams and 30 finalists competed in the final round. It was supported by TalentFarm.ai and Idealabs Ventures Pvt Ltd.
The winning teams addressed real-world challenges using AI. Meanwhile, the Startup Pitch Games featured more than 200 nominations and 20 startups were shortlisted for their innovative ideas. Some of the notable participants were QUIPU, Onnes Cryogenics and MedAI.
Winning startups are learned to benefit from the extensive network of investors, mentors and industry experts of MATH. They will be offered funding and partnership opportunities. Moreover, the Startup Showcase featured 50 startups which exhibited their solutions to potential investors. Standout performances were witnessed from Kofuku, Setv, Hire+++AI Tech and Rava AI.
MATH CEO Rahul Paith highlighted the significance of the summit and said that the hackathon as well as the startup pitch competitions showcased the exceptional talent and problem-solving capabilities of some of the next generation of AI innovators in India.
