In a recent announcement on Tuesday, Microsoft introduced its Copilot Pro AI assistant for individual users, providing an advanced subscription tier at a monthly cost of Rs 2,000. This premium subscription brings priority access to cutting-edge AI models including GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo. Notably, India is among the initial countries to receive the Copilot Pro feature.
Copilot Pro was originally launched for enterprises at $30 or Rs 3,000 a month, offering powerful generative AI capabilities through OpenAI’s GPT across various applications and services.
Users who are already subscribed to Office 365 can seamlessly sign up for Copilot Pro to amplify their experience with applications like Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote. Non-Microsoft 365 subscribers can also access Copilot Pro, albeit without the integration with the Office suite.
After signing up, Copilot Pro users can use its features on different devices like Windows PC, Mac, web, Android and iOS. The subscription gives individual users all the features available in the enterprise version, except they can’t make a presentation deck on PowerPoint using a Word Document. This limitation arises due to the absence of Microsoft’s Graph technology for individual users, though Microsoft has confirmed plans to include Copilot GPT Builder in the near future.
Copilot Pro for individual users encompasses the latest GPT models including GPT-4 Turbo and grants access to image generation tools like Image Creator from Designer, powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E. Users can personalize conversation styles, generate emails on Outlook and analyze data in Excel to produce dynamic graphs.
While the basic version of Copilot remains free, Microsoft advises that non-Pro users may experience slower response times during peak usage, potentially relying on the GPT-3.5 model. In contrast, Copilot Pro users enjoy access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, enabling them to generate up to 100 images on the Designer, while regular users are limited to 15.
