Microsoft has come up with a new campaign for its Copilot+PC, which is a new AI-powered laptop being developed with partnership with major laptop manufacturers including Dell, HP and Samsung. The campaign has been launched just ahead of its annual ‘Build’ conference that is to be held in Seattle.
It is claimed that the news PCs will be more powerful than usual systems. It will be equipped with Open AI’s GPT-4 and to function 100 times more efficiently while running AI tasks. It will outperform Apple’s MacBook Air 15-inch by up to 58%. It will also offer all-day battery life.
Apple devices have been outperforming Microsoft’s Windows PCs for years and especially since the iDevice giant introduced its M1 chip in 2020. It offered superior battery life.
Microsoft’s new AI PCs is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip and it is said to position Microsoft ahead in the AI technology race.
AI PCs are basically such personal computers which are equipped with specialized processors called neural processing units (NPUs). The processors are particularly designed to run AI applications directly on the devices. Hence, there is no need to connect to any cloud-based services like ChatGPT. It is a new concept.
AI PCs are being developed based on the demand for new hardware and software. Consumers are looking for upgrades and AI capabilities is said to be the next big attraction.
The latest Windows PCs will feature a dedicated Copilot key and an NPU. The systems will be capable of performing over 40 trillion operations per second. Users can now run Microsoft Copilot directly on laptops or desktops. This will improve performance and energy efficiency compared to traditional GPUs (graphics processing units ) or CPUs (central processing units).
