MOSart Labs and IIT Bhubaneswar are setting a milestone in India’s semiconductor education segment by launching a specialized Professional Diploma Program in Semiconductor Technology and Chip Design. The MoU was signed on November 5, 2024, and it is being seen as a strategic push to bridge the skills gap in the semiconductor sector of the country.
Structure of the program speaks about the commitment of the collaboration to depth and quality. It spans three modules which are designed to provide a thorough understanding of the VLSI industry and also coupled with hands-on application through advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. The introductory Launchpad Module gives students an overview of the IC lifecycle and VLSI basics. The second phase is equipped with five foundational courses to help students in applying their learning into simulations that mimic real-world challenges. The final one is Specialization Module and it allows students to dive into an area of interest that culminates in a mini-project. It is designed to provide practical and industry-aligned experience.
The program reveals evolving role of institutions like IIT Bhubaneswar and they are now actively engaging with industry experts to co-create curricula. Professor Shreepad Karmalkar, IIT Bhubaneswar’s Director, said the initiative is to connect academic achievement with real-world applicability. IIT Bhubaneswar and MOSart Labs aim to set a standard for meaningful and job-ready education by empowering students to directly contribute to India’s growing semiconductor industry.
India is gradually pushing toward self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing and such collaborations are highly important. The collaborations are to address urgent need for skilled professionals and also set the stage for India to emerge as a global hub for semiconductor innovation.
