Mozilla which has made the open source browser, Firefox is working on a new internet browser which is going to be codenamed as ‘Fenix’ for the operating system Android.
The new application is going to target for the young generation, tech-savvy audience, according to a report stated.
Mozilla contributors started contributing more actively to the project starting from June, according to the Github history.
According to the reports, there is no comment from the Fenix developers about their plans of commercializing the browser in the immediate future.
The reasons for developing another Android-based browser is still unclear from the developers’ end, especially when Firefox remains one of the most popular Android browsers with over a 100 million installs to date, according to its official Google Play listing.
Mozilla which is founded by the team of Netscape in the year 1998, is the open-source software community presently has three different set of Android browsers – the flagship Firefox browser, privacy-focused Firefox Focus, and beta builds Firefox Nightly.
