MS Dhoni Backs Gurugram Startup Blusmart in EV Ride-Hailing Expansion

Sustainable solutions are much desirable as well as essential. Gurugram-based startup BluSmart is a growing name in the EV ride-hailing industry. It lately raised Rs 200 crore (approximately $24 million) in a pre-Series B funding round led by Zurich-based climate finance firm responsAbility Investments AG, renewable energy sector leader Sumant Sinha and the MS Dhoni Family Office.

BluSmart previously announced plans of expansion into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with its #RideSmartDubai campaign. It followed with the fresh investments. The new capital is learned to fuel the ambitious plans and develop a robust EV charging infrastructure across major cities in India.

Co-founder Punit Goyal said that BluSmart is building an integrated energy-infrastructure, mobility and technology company. Their latest fundraise is an important step in the journey towards scaling the eMobility fleet and EV charging infrastructure as well.

Blusmart was founded by Punit Goyal, Anmol Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi in 2019. It started with just 70 electric vehicles. It today operates with a fleet of 7,500 EVs across Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. It boasts impressive milestones such as more than half a billion electric kilometers traveled and more than 16 million electric trips delivered. It has saved about 40 million kilograms of CO2 emissions and created economic opportunities for about 9,800 driver partners in India.

Cricket icon and former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni expressed his enthusiasm for sustainable business model of BluSmart. He represented his MS Dhoni Family Office. He said that Investing in a sustainable business model is about supporting a company and also about being part of a movement that shapes the future of mobility.

Dhoni added, “In a world where innovation drives sustainable choices, I am excited to back BluSmart’s pioneering efforts in reshaping urban transportation.”
