Mumbai-based Good Glamm Group has lately acquired Sirona Hygiene in an all-cash deal worth Rs 450 crore (approximately $60 million). It is a strategic move by the beauty and personal care giants to dominate the femtech space.
Sirona Hygiene has a diverse product portfolio and is aimed at breaking taboos surrounding feminine hygiene. It has built a name for itself by offering revolutionary PeeBuddy, which is a stand-and-pee device for women. Some of its other popular products include menstrual cups, period pain patches and sanitary disposal bags. Its vision to reach an even larger audience has got wings with the acquisition. It may get the required resources and scale to bring the essential products into mainstream markets.
The integration of Sirona into Good Glamm’s portfolio will create new synergies. Good Glamm Group has already made strategic investments in Sirona. It invested Rs 100 crore in 2022 and this has yielded a substantial 6x to 20x return for early investors. The acquisition also gives Good Glamm Group an opportunity to further capitalize on Sirona’s strong brand identity. Moreover, it will leverage its own resources to expand Sirona’s market reach globally.
The deal also signifies a changing leadership narrative for Sirona. Co-founders Deep Bajaj and Mohit Bajaj stepped down earlier this year and now passed the baton to the Good Glamm team. Their contributions to disrupting the feminine hygiene market are noteworthy. It also opens doors for Good Glamm to introduce new strategies and possibly take Sirona to heights even the founders couldn’t have imagined.
Good Glamm CEO Darpan Sanghvi has committed to empower women through innovative solutions and this perfectly aligns with the mission of Sirona. The potential for global expansion now seems promising with a shared goal.
