The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) has partnered with Meta to launch the ‘Open-Source Generative AI Grand Challenge.’ The initiative is mainly aimed to inspire startups and developers in utilizing open-source and generative AI technologies in the creation of solutions which are equipped with significant socio-economic impact. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) will be providing the necessary technological supports. It is being said that the challenge is set to propel the AI capabilities of India to new heights.
The challenge is learned to be providing a platform for the startups and developers where they can showcase their innovative AI solutions across sectors like education, enterprise and e-governance. In fact, the platform will be playing an important role in encouraging the use of open-source technologies among the startups and developers.
NASSCOM and Meta are promoting a culture of accessibility and collaboration lately. Shivnath Thukral, Vice President and Head of Public Policy (India) at Meta, said that the openly available AI models help in democratising access to AI technology and it is important in fostering a vibrant AI ecosystem in India that can drive economic growth as well as innovation.
It is said that generative AI has immense potential to transform industries. It can address some of the much needed real-world problems. Hence, the challenge is inviting participants to develop AI solutions that can be integrated into various sectors.
A notable aspect of the challenge is the support provided to participants. Winners in each category will receive up to Rs 4 lakh and runners-up will get up to Rs 1 lakh. Participants will also benefit from mentorship by senior industry professionals. The guidance will be invaluable in refining their projects.
