Walmart and Flipkart-backed agritech platform Ninjacart has made significant moves in transforming India’s agricultural supply chain and it is evident by a 74% revenue surge to Rs 2,002.7 crore in FY24. The growth highlights potential of B2B e-commerce in India’s agricultural sector and also the effectiveness of tech-driven solutions in bridging the urban-rural divide. Its net loss has been decreased by 20% to Rs 259.6 crore. Ninjacart has balanced growth with a drive toward profitability and this is particularly required for India’s e-commerce space.

Ninjacart has emerged with strategic use of artificial intelligence to reduce waste and improve quality across its supply chain. This is an era when many agritech players are struggling with the complexities of demand prediction and perishable goods management. Ninjacart’s AI-driven quality assessment and pricing optimization have streamlined the fulfilment process and minimized losses.

Ninjacart’s introduction of premium fruits and vegetables into its offerings demonstrates adaptability of agritech firms in India to meet evolving consumer demands while supporting farmers with higher-value produce. Ninjacart is collaborating with traders and retailers in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

CEO Kartheeswaran KK said that the mission of Ninjacart is to transform the agricultural ecosystem in India. His statement reflects an ambition of profits and focus on creating a powerful marketplace that benefits farmers, traders and local economies.

Ninjacart was founded in 2015 and backed by major investors such as Tiger Global and Infosys cofounder Nandan Nilekani. It has raised substantial capital over the years to build the foundation. It is valued at $756 million as of May 2022.

Ninjacart’s focus on AI, efficient supply chains and regional collaborations serves as a roadmap for agritech in India. Agritech players like Ninjacart are proving that profitability and purpose-driven growth are not only achievable but essential.
