Odisha-based startup Bon V Aero has introduced a fully autonomous logistics drone Air Orca and is set to redefine transportation in hard-to-reach areas. The launch event was held in Bhubaneswar and was attended by venture capitalist Tim Draper.
Air Orca represents a vision of tackling India’s unique challenges with homegrown solutions. CEO Satyabrata Sathapathy emphasized on designing and manufacturing of the drone that indigenously allowed the team to adapt Air Orca and specifically for India’s complex logistics needs. The adaptability stands at the core of Air Orca’s appeal and especially as the drone is engineered to be an agile responder in emergencies.
Climate-related disasters are increasingly frequent in recent years and a drone like Air Orca provides an essential lifeline. Draper pointed out the power of autonomous drones to expand reach, flexibility and reliability in modern logistics. He cited the potential role of the devices in disaster response. His words are correct as extreme weather and emergencies highlight the need for quick and adaptable solutions. The advanced features of Air Orca allow it to rise to the occasion literally. The team of Bon V Aero recently demonstrated capabilities of the drone by setting a world record. It lifted a 30 kg payload to an altitude of 19,024 feet at Umling La in Ladakh.
The potential of Air Orca extends beyond emergencies as it has applications related to healthcare, military logistics, e-commerce and disaster management. The drone could serve as a cornerstone of India’s push to modernize infrastructure and improve access to essential goods and services. Bon V Aero shows that Indian innovation can keep pace with the best in the world.
Bon V Aero is setting a high bar for Indian tech startups which are aiming to leave a global footprint.
