CIE, the academic incubator at International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-Hyderabad) launches Ojas MedTech Bio-NEST to foster startups developing and enhancing technology-enabled healthcare solutions. Ojas, that previously mounted with 8 startups, is ready to incubate research-leveraged medtech startups concentring on disease prevention, diagnosis, detection, monitoring treatment and wellness. Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Government of Telangana find their ideologies to support Ojas MedTech Bio-NEST where, this startup counts on to incubate startups extending to 30, a year and essentially amplify CIE@IIITH’s current endeavours around Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other deep technologies.
Dr. Radha Rangarajan, Head, Innovation and Strategy at Ojas stated, “Given the strengths of IIITH in deep tech areas such as computer vision, language technologies, signal processing and cognitive science, start-ups will find significant opportunities to collaborate and co-develop products with its faculty. In addition, the ecosystem of clinicians, life sciences researchers and investors associated with the Incubator, will enable faster product development.” Also, Prof P J Narayanan, Director, IIIT-Hyderabad, claimed,“Healthcare and wellness are very important areas for IIITH’s research vision and social impact. Ojas can play a critical role in taking our research and expertise in the labs to the society through startups. IIITH is excited about the future potential of this area.”
Short while ago, IIIT-Hyderabad achieved the first anniversary of their AI/ML Executive Program, in association with TalentSprint. While receiving more than 10,000 applicants and more than 1000 graduates in 2018 alone, the program had also made its imprint as the eminent aspirational and provoking deep tech executive programs across the nation in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Back in 2016, IIIT-Hyderabad, launched ‘Avishkar,’ in partnership with 50K Ventures, a startup accelerator concentrated on technologies such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, amplified reality and virtual reality. Later in August 2017, IIIT-Hyderabad and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) extended hands and signed an MOU to set up an Agri-tech startup accelerator programme.
