Over 50% of Startups in Uttar Pradesh Led by Women, Highlighting Business Inclusivity

Uttar Pradesh is rewriting the narrative of entrepreneurship in India. The noteworthy aspect is that women are playing important role in the transformation. More than half of the registered startups in the state are led by women.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has so far recognized 13,370 startups in the state and more than 6,800 of them have at least one woman director. It is not just a number, but it is a reflection of the inclusive policies of the state as well as its push to empower women to step into leadership roles.

The Yogi Adityanath government deserves credit for strengthening the environment. The proactive measures of the state like the startup policy that aims to establish 100 incubators across all 75 districts and the single-window clearance system Nivesh Mitra have made it easier for entrepreneurs to navigate the challenges of starting and running businesses.

The vision to establish India’s first artificial intelligence (AI) city in Lucknow is exciting. Such forward-looking projects can put UP on the map as a hub for emerging technologies. It further to boost the startups and attract talent as well as investment.

It is worth noting that the startups in the state have so far created more than 100,000 jobs. It is a significant achievement that highlights their role in shaping the economic future of UP. However, the bigger story here is how such startups which are led by women and fueled by innovation are breaking barriers and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs.

India’s startup ecosystem has continued to grow equipped with more than 130,000 recognized startups across India. Uttar Pradesh is setting a strong example for other states. The combination of policy support, inclusivity and focus on emerging technologies is a blueprint for success.

The journey is not over as UP must continue to invest in education, infrastructure and mentorship programs for budding entrepreneurs to sustain the momentum. Its dream of becoming a $1 trillion economy might not just be ambitious, but it could become a reality led by women entrepreneurs shaping the future.
