Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has announced a significant expansion in India. The prominent data center provider is committing investment of about $1 billion to develop AI-driven data centers. The investment forms part of its broader $5 billion initiative that is aimed at building AI-ready data centers across Asia. Its total data center capacity in India will increase to 230 MW and to strengthen presence in the country. It will develop the key cloud infrastructure hubs in Mumbai and Chennai.

The flagship data center of PDG in Mumbai is known as MU1 and it will see a substantial expansion with the addition of three new buildings. The capacity is to increase by three times to 150 MW. The first phase of the 100 MW expansion is expected to be completed by 2026 and the facility is to spread across a 15-acre campus. PDG is debuting in Chennai with CH1, a 72 MW AI-ready data center located in the northern Chennai Metropolitan Area.

The Mumbai and Chennai facilities are designed to support high-density AI workloads equipped with advanced cooling technologies as well as a focus on sustainability. Its Mumbai campus has plans to source around 50% of its energy from renewable sources and with additional sustainable energy options being explored for both locations. Its commitment to green infrastructure is further demonstrated by the IGBC Platinum certification awarded to its Mumbai MU1 data center.

The expansion is part of its larger 500 MW growth strategy across Asia. It also includes investments in Indonesia and Malaysia. PDG is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s rapidly developing AI and cloud ecosystems.
