Pune-based sports-tech startup Spolto has successfully secured $1 million (approximately Rs 8.4 crore) in a seed funding round led by investor Andrew Johnston. The funding is learned to help the startup in enhancing services and even expanding reach to more parts of the country.
Spolto was founded in 2021 by Safa Soltani and Divesh Nathani. The mission is to make sports more accessible to urban people in the country. The Spolto platform offers a diverse range of sports including tennis, swimming, badminton and pickleball. The approach is designed to strengthen grassroots sports development and encourage recreational skill-building among urban people irrespective of their ages.
Spolto has made considerable moves in its mission. As of now, it has partnered with more than 1,200 coaches and sports academies across Maharashtra. It currently covers 12 different sports. The collaborations have allowed it to create a robust network of quality coaching and sports facilities.
Spolto plans to accelerate its expansion into more urban centers across India with the new funding. It aims to meet the growing demand of sports facilities. The startup is also believed to improve its online platform and make easier for users to find as well as book sports activities.
