Qualcomm and Intel Lead Charge to Democratize AI

Big tech names Qualcomm and Intel are shaking things up by making artificial intelligence (AI) more accessible outside of big data centers. This means AI won’t just live in the cloud anymore. It is coming to everyday devices like your smartphone and closer to where you are.

At the Mobile World Congress 2024, Qualcomm unveiled its “AI Hub,” a special tool for developers to create AI-powered apps for devices with Snapdragon chips. These apps can understand words, sounds and pictures much better. Cristiano Amon, the head of Qualcomm, believes this fresh AI method will make your devices more tailored to you, keep your info private as well as work faster.

Intel is also joining in, making its AI-friendly servers available to everyone. These servers can do AI jobs without needing pricey graphics chips. This change lets more companies use AI without spending too much money.

The shift towards bringing AI closer to you is happening because companies like Qualcomm and Intel believe AI should not be limited to big data centers owned by Amazon, Google and others. They think AI should be for everyone, from big businesses to regular people like you and me.

Nowadays, companies are spending heavily on cloud stuff, especially for AI. But smart people think AI’s future is all about being fast, not big data centers.

To get ready for this, companies are putting money into smaller computer places near where people are. American Tower and Akamai are leading this, making sure AI in the future is quick and easy for everyone to use.

With Qualcomm and Intel leading the charge, AI is about to get a lot closer to you and that is something to get excited about.
