Wearable technology has been advancing at tremendous pace with ongoing research & development activities and launch of new products. The focus of researchers has been upon solving the issues faced by people in their daily lives. However, manufacturers have been finding ways to make wearables an essential commodity of daily lives of people. From offering quality sleep during jet lags to ensuring accuracy in heart monitoring data, researchers have been finding innovative methods to be incorporated in wearables.

New products have been launched and they focus on utility, fashion, and fitness. The market for wearable technology is booming. According to the report published by the research firm Allied Market Research, the global wearable technology market is expected to reach $57.65 billion by 2022. Following are some the activities going on the industry.

Researchers have been finding solutions for various problems occurring in day-to-day lives of people. Utilizing wearable technology to counter jet lag is one of the advancements in recent times. They have developed wearables to offer personalized advice, which would enable people who travel frequently get a quality sleep.

The researchers from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the U.S., outlined that changes in the internal clock of body, known as the circadian rhythm, results in experiencing jet lags. The internal clock is helpful in regulating physiological processes such as metabolism, sleep, hormone secretion, and others.

According to the research published in journal PLOS ONE, they showed the algorithms that analyze biometric information in smart device, and offer best combination of sleep and light. This assists a person in readjusting the circadian rhythm. With the help of algorithms and mathematical model of circadian rhythm, they compute the light required for quality sleep.

This is how researchers intend to create a healthy environment. Moreover, it recommends how much and when a person needs to sleep. Researchers have utilized algorithms to analyze data such as body temperature and heart rate, which is gathered from wearable technology.

Among the daily issues suffered by people, there is another issue addressed by wearable manufacturers. The consistency in wearing the wearable technology devices is helpful for people who have been wearing those devices for some functions such as heart rate monitoring. If the heart rate monitoring watch is not worn consistently, it can offer inaccurate data over time.

However, Xenoma plans to tackle the issue with its e-skin solution. The company outlined that this solution can be helpful for senior citizens and caretakers as these wearable monitors day-to-day life of the person, track sleeping conditions, and determine falling. As there is a scarcity of caretakers across the world, the Japanese tech firm determined that this is the solution needed by the market. T

his solution is made up of printed circuit fabric, which is a smart clothing, along with its own method for availing the benefits of stretchable device. The company stated that it only lasts for eight hours per charge. They have been striving to develop a technology that would make this system to last longer than aforementioned duration.

Market players have been launching new products that solves issues and offers value in terms of health, fashion, and fitness. Recently, Huami, one of the leading wearables company of the world, launched the Amazfit GTS. This new line of mid-luxury watches is an upgraded version of its popular and successful product, Amazfit Bip. This new square-designed product is equipped with 1.65-inch high-resolution AMOLED display and a slim all-metal body. Elaine Huo, Head of U.S. Marketing for Huami, outlined that the company used Bip as a foundation and built an improved version with GTS.

Along with its brilliant design, GTS provides some health-related features such as BioTracker™ PPG heart rate sensor and RealBeats, which is an AI data engine for monitoring heart conditions around the clock. Moreover, it offers water resistance in depths up to 50 meters and has capability to last up to 14 days with a single charge. The new model provides 12 sport modes such as cycling, running, mountaineering, and others.

In addition, it contains dual-mode GPS, high-resolution screen with brilliant color for near-perfect readability, and mobile app notifications. With these new features, the company aims to attract new consumers, grab more market share, and expand its international presence. This has become one of the major strategies adopted by them.

Riding on the wave of new product launches, Xiaomi launched its smart wearable Watch Color. This product boasts an incredibly long battery life. Qu Heng, the General Manager of Xiaomi’s Ecological Chain, highlighted that the launch of this product is a new beginning for the company to focus on new category of bands having long-lasting battery. The company also focused on making the product fashionable and functionable. The Watch Color has large screen, various color options, and multiple dial themes. It also aims to make the smartwatch another essential commodity for users along with smartphones.
