In what could be considered as a smart move, Samsung India has decided to turn peoples’ anger and frustration into joy and celebration by offering them a free Gear VR. The offer is only valid for people in India who have pre-ordered for Samsung’s controversial Note 7.

The recently launched Galaxy Note 7 phablet, was supposed to make an entry into the Indian market on 2nd September, but after a number of news reports surfaced of the device exploding due to a faulty battery, the company decided to recall several million units for the purposes of further quality control testing. Samsung’s this decision led to the delay in the phablet’s Indian launch. There hasn’t been any communication yet from the company’s side as on when would the Indian customers will be able to see the Galaxy Note 7 phablet in the Indian markets.

In order to reward its customers for patiently waiting for the phablet, Samsung will be giving out the new Gear VR absolutely free to the ones who have pre-booked the Galaxy Note 7. Not only this, the VR will also come with a free Rs 3,300 worth Oculus content voucher.

“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident reported by our valued customers very seriously. In response to recent cases reported globally of the new Galaxy Note 7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue. As our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have delayed the sales of Galaxy Note 7 in India. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to you but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. Appreciate your understanding,” reads Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 webpage.

While those who wait will be rewarded with a free Gear VR, those who don’t wish to wait anymore can contact their online retailers for a refund.

We at TECHIExpert recommend, if you can wait, please wait. Backed by a 3,500mAh battery with fast-charging technology, the Galaxy Note 7 is a must have. Of course, if and when Samsung completely fixes the faulty batter issues.
