All early stage Startups in Gujarat, take note. SAP SE, the global technology products firm, recently made an announcement regarding the second edition of its much anticipated Startup Accelerator Program. Being organised in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship at the prestigious IIM-Ahmedabad, the program aims at mentoring and building capacities of the selected 30 startups by the year 2017.
The accelerator constantly works towards scouting for regional startups that have a potential to make it big in the future. Additionally, they are also working towards fostering the growth of regional entrepreneurship ecosystem by catalysing the active participation of local stakeholders including academics, domain experts and angels etc.
In addition to the announcement of the second edition of Startup Accelerator Program, two other entrepreneurship focused initiatives were also announced — pushing over 200 young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs, and searching for 3 entrepreneurial geniuses to become ‘Innovation Fellows’ at the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship(CIIE).
According to a statement made by Dilipkumar Khandelwal, Managing Director, SAP Labs India, SAP strongly believes in fostering sustainable economic environment by strengthening entrepreneurship ecosystem and in this context through their partnership with CIIE, they are looking forward to create and mentor a pipeline of highly investable startups.
With its first successful edition launched in 2015, the SAP-CIIE Startup Accelerator Program has become known for building a pipeline of startups from the Gujarat region that are high on potential investment quotient, and providing them with the best of mentorship and opportunities. In the near future, the program is contemplating to expand to Pune and Rajasthan.
Taking about his company’s vision behind conceiving the program, Kunal Upadhyay, CEI, CIIE, said that CIIE is continuously increasing its footprint in multiple regions, and is also developing its depth in sectors such as agriculture, IoT, cleantech, healthcare, water and enterprise tech. Future, talking about CIIE’s partnership with SAP, he said that the partnership gives them an opportunity to tap into the humongous domain expertise that is available within the company – a support that is quite invaluable to startups.
