IT services giant HCL Technologies made a major announcement today. The company announced that its Infrastructure Services President C Vijay Kumar will now also be taking over the additional role of the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).
HCL Technologies appointed C Vijay Kumar as a part of its strategy to put the company’s core business growth in full gear. The role of COO has been established especially for this very purpose.
C Vijay Kumar will continue to dispense his duties as the Infrastructure Services President, along with looking after the responsibilities of the Chief Operating Officer. Anant Gupta, President and CEO, HCL Tech will continue to look after Kumar’s work and contributions to the firm.
HCL Tech strongly believes that establishing the COO position and appointing C Vijay Kumar to it, would help the company in strengthening its cleverly charter out ’21st Century Enterprise strategy’, which can be essentially considered as a blueprint for re-aligning the IT consumption formats to being more lean solutions, service-oriented and outcome-based.
It is interesting to note that the appointment of a COO has come at a time when HCL Tech is expected to reveal its this financial year’s first quarter earnings figures in August.
Vijaykumar’s currently looks after HCL’s $2.2 billion and approximately 30,000 employees. His new job profile as a COO will involve charting out constant strategies to accelerate HCL’s growth in the core outsourcing business as HCL looks to expand its service offerings into integrated propositions, across all regions and segments.
Vijaykumar, having a two decades experience, is considered a veteran in the industry. In his capacity as the Infrastructure Services President of HCL Tech, he has the responsibility of looking after the company’s strategy, sales, product and delivery. He has also been the founding member of the startup team at HCL Comnet.
