Atos Syntel has now opened a new global delivery center, that is also capable of employing around 2300 people in its first phase of the process of development, to cater largely to both the retail and banking clients.
The center at the Tirunelveli in the state of Tamil Naidu has been also set up at an initial cost of around $15 Million. The company is also looking to invest around $5-$10 Million over a couple of coming five years on the 100-acre campus.
“The center will initially service customers in the BFSI and retail and logistics verticals, which are two key verticals for the firm,” said Sean Narayanan, head of the business and platform solutions division, Atos.
He also revealed in a report that the project has been started by the Syntel and was around 80% completed when the Atos acquired the former last year. The company is also looking to plan to hire around 800 people in India in the coming 12 months.
As of now, this is a third major delivery center for the company as of now after the Chennai and Pune, apart from the Bangalore and Mumbai, and the expansion is in the line with the Atos plans to move the more work in the platform solutions business nearshore or offshore. The business unit houses almost have around 60-65% of the company total workforce, which is around half of which are deployed offshore.
Rakesh Khanna, CEO, Atos Syntel, said: “We wanted to go closer to where the talent is, and we’ll be hiring from the engineering and management colleges in the region.”
