Agri-Startup Stakeholders Connect Event

Recently, the campus of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, bustled with entrepreneurial spirit as it hosted the ‘Agri-StartUp Stakeholders Connect–Fostering Collaboration and Partnerships’ event. Organized by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management-Center for Innovation and Agripreneurship (MANAGE-CIA) in collaboration with the university, the event brought together a diverse array of agricultural enthusiasts.

With 26 startups and numerous agricultural stakeholders from Himachal Pradesh in attendance, along with over 200 eager students and faculty members, the event aimed to foster a sense of unity among various players in the agricultural sector. The event brought together researchers, government decision-makers, farmers, investors and others.

Dr. Inder Dev, who leads the education extension, highlighted how working together is crucial for helping startup businesses grow. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, echoed this sentiment, encouraging graduates to explore startup opportunities as a means of becoming job providers rather than job seekers.

Different ideas about starting businesses in agriculture were talked about. Dr. VP Sharma said mushrooms are healthy and suggested students to start a related business. Dr. Arun Chandan said that there is a plethora of opportunities to start businesses with Himalayan plants and herbs.

Dr. Saravanan Raj from MANAGE said that agri startups are really important because they can help solve problems and offer affordable services.

At the event, there was a special area where startups displayed what they make and shared their stories. The presence of government offices, department representatives and university officials at the event reveals working together helps in making startups stronger.

The event showcased how agriculture businesses innovate and benefit the environment, inspiring attendees to contribute to the sector’s advancement.
