Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are playing important roles in rapidly evolving tech landscape. A joint study by Nasscom and Meta has lately highlighted the key challenges the enterprises are facing in adopting artificial intelligence (AI). The primary hurdles are skill development, financial support and access to AI tools. The potential benefits of AI for business growth and productivity are widely recognized among tech MSMEs.
The study analyzed 300 tech MSMEs across Gurugram, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad. It revealed some compelling statistics. About 94% of MSMEs acknowledged the ability of AI to drive business growth and 87% expressed confidence in the potential of AI to improve overall productivity. The figures highlight a significant awareness and optimism about AI among Indian MSMEs.
Nasscom Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Sangeeta Gupta said MSMEs are pivotal to India’s economic engine and they are at a critical point in today’s fast-evolving tech landscape. AI integration is offering them a unique chance for unprecedented growth as well as increased productivity.
The report simultaneously highlights some key areas where AI can impact the tech MSMEs. About half of the respondents support the potential of AI in content creation and marketing. About 46% of the surveyed believe it can enhance customer engagement and 68% see it as a valuable tool in developing new products and services.
However, there are obstacles to adopt AI. About 65% of tech MSMEs is struggling with limited awareness about available of AI tools and related resources. The knowledge gap is a barrier. Moreover, 72% of respondents emphasized the necessity for comprehensive AI training programs.
The study further highlights the need for ecosystem collaboration. AI technologies should be accessible.
